It’s Gal-entine’s Day!

It’s Gal-entine’s Day!

I’m incredibly blessed to have a circle of women in my life. To those ladies thank you! You’ve been there with me through so many things. I couldn’t image doing life without you as a part of it! I hope you have these same types of people in your life too. As women, it’s incredibly important that we serve as encouragers, listeners and mentors to each other.

We need to share the love with each other. It’s time to set jealousy and competition aside and celebrate the accomplishments of each of us. We need to share the lessons we’ve learned along the way so others realize their struggles are not in vain. We need to celebrate what makes each of us unique and special. I’m not sure where it got hard to share the successes of others but it’s time we changed that thought process.

In When In Doubt, Delete It! you get to meet some of my circle – the women who have impacted my life. One of the best gifts these women have given me —other than their time and friendship — is confidence. Their belief in my ability to achieve anything I set my mind to carried me through spells of doubt and helped me leap past fear.

Every woman needs that feeling of confidence that comes from the total acceptance of self. That feeling that no matter the moment, you have what it takes to get through or past anything in your path. The right circle of people around you forces you to see and believe in the fact you are an incredible woman who has the talents and skills you need. They revel in and show you your quirks and curiosities are what makes you unique and special. They remind you the world needs your special gift.

Use Valentine’s Day as a reason to give that gift to a special female around you today. Ask her when she truly felt confident and comfortable in being her. Ask her when she relished in an unfiltered moment. Use that moment to help her shut down the inner critic that lurks inside each of us.

On this special day, don’t be afraid to give someone a little boost. It can be just as powerful for you as it is her. When you help someone realize their worth and value, you gain as well just by being that encourager. Think people will find it strange or be uncomfortable? Then start small and build on it. Tell someone their outfit looks amazing. Tell a co-worker you’ve noticed the great work they are doing. Tell your daughter you’re proud of her. Build on that small start each day.

While you’re at it, make sure you take a little time today to practice a little self-care too. Use today to assess what you need. Are you taking time for you each week? Are you moving and eating well? Are your emotions in check? Are you sleeping enough? You’ve got to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else. When we take care of ourselves, we are better equipped to succeed in our careers, relationships and enjoy more about each day we are given.

When you work on your self-love, your belief, your confidence and your connections, you make you a stronger, more joyous human being.

So on Valentine’s Day–I mean Gal-entine’s Day– take a moment to be heart-centered. Be giving.
