Life Edits Learned from Santa Claus

I was hoping for an early delivery this week from Santa. Originally, I thought I’d have the final proof copy of my book, When In Doubt, Delete It! in hand before the jolly ole elf left the North Pole for his Christmas rounds. But the USPS had a different plan in mind. So that’s left me with some time reflect and draw upon the very Life Edits I talk about in my soon to be released book. Especially the one on adapting and allowing things to happen at the right time. My timetable doesn’t always line up with the one God has in mind.
It struck me, in addition to the real reason for the season, Santa really is a master Life Editor. If we follow his lead, we can keep Christmas alive all year long and be on our our way to a great 2019.
We know Santa is making his list and checking it twice. We need to be as diligent. We need to list our goals and keep them in front of us. Put them in places we’ll see them everyday. Seeing them and making a plan will put you on the course to success. Come December 24, 2019, you’ll be amazed at what you’ve crossed off and accomplished.
He knows when you’re naughty or nice. Let’s face it, we all have a little naughty and nice in us. Whether it’s procrastinating or overindulging, it doesn’t matter. They key is limiting the negative talk that runs rampant in our minds. One bad choice or one bad day, shouldn’t derail months of hard work. It’s time for you to be nice to yourself. Recognize what holds you back, forgive yourself and move forward. Spread a little joy to others. Give compliments and be an encourager. You’ll be surprised how quickly it finds its way back to you.
Finally, Christmas really is all about believing. What if each of us used that childlike belief we found as kids when we were waiting anxiously for Santa to slide down our chimney and deliver presents while we slept and used it to believe in ourselves and our unique gifts? Each of us was born with God given talents or gifts. God created us to do great and wonderful things. Yet many of us have allowed years of doubt to push those dreams aside. What if you said no more to that fear? What if you decided 2019 was going to be the year you listened to that voice inside and let your special gifts grow and share them with the people around you.
