Making your story matter to people who aren't like you

There is more diversity today than ever before. And I’m not just talking about race. Diversity includes everything from religion, political views, age, values, and lifestyle. It could mean are you a gun owner or not? It could mean do you like cats or dogs? It can even be are you a Coke or Pepsi drinker?

So with so many differences how do you make your story matter?

First, you need to be relevant. Are you giving people something they want? Are you providing value? Are you treating them with dignity? Are you making a difference?

You need to build your infrastructure. Are you able to deliver it in a way people can receive it?

Treat the differences with respect. I may not live the way you do. I may not believe what you believe. But each of us have made that choice. It’s my job (and yours) to be sincere.

Do you have a pack leaders? Someone who believes in your message? You need to cultivate that relationship. Anytime you get three or more people together a leader will emerge. The rest will follow. Do you have that person helping you get your message out?

Be fearless in your promotion. It might be weird or unconventional. That’s ok. If it works keep adding to the mix. Don’t rest on one success.

In today’s world, it’s not about selling, the key is about helping. When you can make yourself relevant, the rest will fall in place.
