8. TAKE ACTION….Use the template and get Endorsements and Recommendations

Keep beefing up your profile

While you’re spending time each week on your LinkedIn Profile, another way to add interest is through recommendations and endorsements. These make your profile more attractive to recruiters and LinkedIn will also move you up in relevance.

As you are reaching out to your contacts, I want you to ask for these. Look back in your second workbook on page 3 if you need a refresher about these areas. Your profile will get more views by adding content to these areas.

Here’s a short template you can adapt to request a recommendation from someone on LinkedIn.

Hi (their name),

I hope you are doing well. (If you can add a personal note here do so – like I enjoyed the article you posted on…. Or congrats on your recent promotion….etc…).

As you may know, I am looking for a position in (industry or type of skill) and am growing my professional network. I am hoping you’d be willing to write a LinkedIn recommendation about my (knowledge of industry, certain skill, experience with) that I share on my profile.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you
